I would like to present really good presentation “How to Get Started as a Web Entrepreneur” made by Collis Ta’eed, CEO of Envato. It’s really worth to read.
Few days ago I was reading interesting article with which I completely disagree. Author of this article said: “Don’t Hire Frontend or Backend Webdevs”. Oh come one! It’s stupid.
Your business is not worth anything if you don’t have clients. Almost anything what you will read in business books, articles and any other business resources is not worth anything, if you don’t have clients. You need them and their money. However is it really so important to do anything what they want? Is it true that they are the most important?
Sam Walton (an American businessman and entrepreneur, best known for founding the retailers Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club) said something what is worth to remember.
Most of not so advanced entrepreneurs think that projects, which they invented, are their kids. And that is true. However they also think that they have to think about them all day long. That they have to worry about them at night, that they are the best people to develop them and to manage them. And that is not true. I can say much more… stay away from them. You are the client!
People think that having a company is a really easy. That everybody can have a company, because it’s not a problem to manage a one-person company. That’s a bullshit! Setting up new firm is easy. Paying taxes is easy. Having company? No. Why? Because having a one-person company is a myth.
Gary Vaynerchuk is a guy who is famous because of his Wine Library, which is a wine retail shop in Springfield, New Jersey; Wine Library TV, which is a daily internet webcast; ‘CrushIT’, which is a book for young entrepreneurs and because of his personality. He was a speaker on Le Web Paris 2009 just a few days ago… and he was brilliant! Must see at all. Notice: first few minutes are a little bit for show… however after that – there is almost 25-minutes long great video, which is full of advices for all kind of entrepreneurs.
Every entrepreneur (or marketing/PR specialist as you wish) has to create some press release from time to time. By the press release I mean blog entry, e-mail message to other bloggers/news sites, interview in a radio or whatever else you want to do, to promote your product. How should it looks like? First: it can’t be boring!
