Add more informations to social media sites

Almost all of the social media sites give you a possibility to add informations about you to your public profile. Most of them offer you an ability to add your name, birth date, some kind of bio, location and a photo. Fill these informations, even if you won’t come back to that site anymore.
Why is that? Because of three reasons:
Most of the social media websites give you a chance to add URL to your websites, so thanks to that you can achive (popular word) more visitors… if not – it’s always one more link for search engines. In most of these sites you can add links to at least few of your websites, including your profiles on other social media sites.
Besides… some of them have an ability to save your RSS feeds… so there will be not only links to your websites’ main page, but links to your posts, too.
At least one time in a week I want to find or contact someone, that is not in my contact list, I don’t know him yet or I simple have some old contact informations. Then… I use google. Google will find some profile on LinkedIn, some profile on Facebook, Twitter, Plaxo, etc. Some of these profiles are useless for me (e.g. I can’t send him a direct message, because he is not my 1st degree contact), but some of them… will give me an ability to send him a direct message, write on his wall, etc. And thanks to more informations than a first name, last name and a nickname – I am sure, that he’s a guy, which I am looking for.
It’s always better when you can see someone’s face, when you see who you’re talking. It’s always more like in reality, it’s easier. If you don’t want to show your face… create some kind of unique avatar and upload it. Simple don’t use default icons – it’s really bad practice. People want to know who are you.
